A district is a selected region of a city. Each district can have different policies, affecting the growth and lifestyle of the citizens of that district.[1]
Districts are automatically and randomly given a name and can be changed by clicking the name of the district and hovering over and clicking on the district name. The district interface will display statistics of the district:
- Happiness
- Specialization
- Population, household and workers, weekly tourist visits
- Residents
- Average building zone levels and distribution
- Policies
District tools[]
Districts are formed by shading part of a region using the paint district tool. The paint district tool comes in three sizes: small, medium, and large brushes. The district tool will automatically snap to a road if near one to allow easier control over painting a specific region. When a district has been shaped, it can be further reshaped by shading within the district first, indicated by the district being highlighted, then shading the surrounding areas. Shading outside the district will result in a new district being formed.[1]
Erasing districts can be done by using the erase district tool. Additionally, using the paint district tool, clicking the right-mouse button will also achieve the same effect.[1]
Specialization[]
Districts can specialize in specific industry or commercial zones. Specialization can improve output of industries and commercial income in contrast to generic industries and commercial zones that would otherwise be ineffective and reaching below maximum potential.[1]
