Abandon is the act of residents or employees entirely leaving a building, thus becoming "abandoned". Abandoned buildings do not profit the city and take up space for future buildings wanting to develop.
Some achievements and unique buildings require abandoned buildings to complete the necessary task. The Cathedral is a prime example of a unique building needing the requirement, as the task involves 2,000 abandoned buildings and must be maintained for four weeks.

Buildings can be abandoned through several methods. When these problems are not fixed, buildings will become abandoned.
